Celebrating Half a Century, Bburago Unleashes Creativity Among Italy’s Finest Young Design Minds

In a spirited homage to its 50-year legacy, Bburago, the renowned toy brand, is ushering in its golden anniversary with an eye on the future. In an innovative twist, the company has reached out to the next generation of designers, launching a project titled “Create the Iconic Car for Bburago’s 50th Anniversary.” This challenge has energized students from the Italian post-graduate design school, SPD (Scuola Politecnica di Design), specifically those enrolled in the Master in Transportation & Car Design program.

This exciting initiative saw participation from 26 talented students, who collaborated in nine teams to bring their visionary concepts to life. These ideas were then meticulously evaluated by an expert jury comprised of Bburago Italia’s management as well as members from the May Cheong Group’s board.

The winning design, named Anta Sportiva, emerged from the creative minds of Yelkenci Fatih Mehmet, Sapra Pahul, and Lin Wan Jhen. This design is not only set to become the licensing icon for the Bburago brand but will also be immortalized as a 1:43 scale die-cast model and a 1:64 scale keychain, designed for collectors and partners alike.

Paola Gravati, the COO of Bburago Italia, expressed admiration for the project, highlighting how it beautifully encapsulates the brand’s essence by weaving the past with the future. “The winning project skillfully conveys the connection between Bburago’s rich heritage and its forward-looking vision, reinforcing why the brand is cherished worldwide,” Gravati remarked.

Bburago’s decision to engage Italy’s up-and-coming design talents not only showcases the brand’s commitment to innovation but also pays tribute to Italian design’s unparalleled legacy in the toy industry, ensuring that the celebratory spirit of Bburago’s half-century mark drives the brand into an exciting future.
